At Impressive Cartwright Standards, we are devoted to raising exceptional AKC Standard Poodles whose health, temperament, intelligence, and structure reflect the qualities that make this breed so remarkable.
Our program is built upon thoughtful breeding decisions, comprehensive health testing, intentional puppy development, and a deep sense of responsibility for every life entrusted to our care. We do not simply raise puppies. We carefully prepare companions to become beloved and well adjusted members of their future families.
When you welcome an ICS puppy into your home, you receive more than a beautiful Standard Poodle. You become part of a program committed to supporting your puppy from birth, through the transition into your home, and throughout every stage of life.
Thoughtfully Bred
Every planned ICS litter begins with prayer, careful research, and a thorough evaluation of the prospective parents.
Our breeding dogs undergo extensive genetic screening through Embark, along with appropriate orthopedic evaluations through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. These results help us understand each dog more completely and make responsible pairing decisions intended to reduce hereditary risk while preserving sound temperament, structure, and breed integrity.
Genetic screening is an important part of responsible breeding, but it is not a guarantee that a dog will never experience a health concern. It is one of several tools we use alongside orthopedic evaluations, veterinary care, pedigree research, temperament, structure, and compatibility.
Each pairing is selected with purpose. We consider what both parents may contribute and how their strengths complement one another before moving forward with a litter.
Intentionally Raised
We believe the first weeks of a puppy’s life create an important foundation for the dog he or she will become.
ICS puppies are raised inside our home as part of everyday family life. From birth, each puppy is carefully observed, handled, and supported through a thoughtfully planned development program.
Depending upon age and developmental readiness, our puppies receive experiences that may include:
• Early Neurological Stimulation
• Early Scent Introduction
• Puppy Culture and Empowered Breeder principles
• Age appropriate socialization and enrichment
• Household sounds and daily family activity
• New surfaces, textures, objects, and environments
• Early grooming, brushing, bathing, drying, and nail care

• Designated potty area introduction
• Individual observation and temperament evaluation
• Positive interaction with trusted adults, children, and appropriate household animals
Every experience is introduced carefully. Our purpose is not to overwhelm a puppy, but to help each one gradually develop confidence, resilience, trust, and the ability to recover from new experiences.
Family First
Our dogs are family members before they are part of our breeding program.
They live in our home, participate in our routines, and are known for far more than their appearance or pedigrees. We understand their personalities, preferences, strengths, sensitivities, and the qualities they may pass to their puppies.
This family centered approach allows our puppies to begin life surrounded by genuine human connection. They learn that people are a source of comfort, security, guidance, and companionship.
The result is not a perfectly trained puppy. Families will still need to continue training, socialization, structure, and relationship building after go home day. What we provide is a carefully developed foundation upon which that lifelong work can continue.
Support Beyond Go Home Day
Welcoming a puppy is joyful, but it is also a significant commitment. Even experienced dog owners encounter questions while helping a new puppy adjust.
We want our families to feel prepared and supported.
ICS families receive guidance covering important areas such as feeding, grooming, crate routines, potty training, household transitions, health care, socialization, and the puppy’s first weeks at home. We also offer continued breeder support and access to professional training guidance through our partnership with ThunderHawk Canine Training Academy.
Our relationship with a family does not end when the puppy leaves our home. We remain available as a source of support throughout the puppy’s life, and we deeply value the photographs, milestones, and updates families share with us over the years.
What Is a Cartwright Standard?
We are occasionally asked:
“What is a Cartwright Poodle?”
“Is Cartwright a different type of Poodle?”
“I have never heard of a Cartwright Standard.”
A Cartwright Standard is not a separate breed, size, or variety of Poodle.
Every ICS puppy is a purebred Standard Poodle. The name Cartwright represents the place, purpose, and promise behind our program.
Impressive Cartwright Standards was founded within the close knit Cartwright community of Kentucky. That name has become our signature and a reflection of the higher standard we have committed to maintaining throughout our breeding and puppy raising program.
When we refer to a Cartwright Standard, we are describing a Standard Poodle raised according to the principles at the heart of ICS:

How Our Story Began
Impressive Cartwright Standards began with a personal search.
Lonnie wanted to welcome a Standard Poodle into his family, but health was his greatest concern. He wanted a dog from comprehensively health tested parents and the reassurance that responsible screening had been completed for known hereditary conditions that could affect quality of life or contribute to a life being cut unnecessarily short.
No breeder or health test can promise that a dog will never experience illness. However, thoughtful genetic screening, orthopedic evaluations, pedigree research, and responsible pairing decisions can help reduce known hereditary risks and give each puppy a stronger foundation.
That search revealed how important transparency, education, and responsible health testing truly are. It also inspired a larger vision: to build a breeding program centered upon health, temperament, structure, integrity, compassion, faith, and responsible stewardship.
What began as the desire to bring a healthy, thoughtfully bred Standard Poodle into his own family grew into a commitment to help other families experience the same confidence and support.
Today, that original purpose continues to guide every decision made at Impressive Cartwright Standards. Our goal is to raise Standard Poodles with the strongest foundation we can provide, so they may enjoy long, healthy, meaningful lives with the families who love them.
Our Promise
