Travel & Flight Coordination for Puppy Pickup

If you’re flying in to pick up your puppy, I’ll work closely with you to coordinate your travel plans. I will personally meet you in the arrivals area of the airport and provide all necessary puppy paperwork, along with a swag bag to help your new companion settle in comfortably.

Booking Flights & Making Arrangements

If you plan to fly and/or stay in a hotel, please be sure to purchase travel insurance. Your puppy’s scheduled Adoption Day is contingent on a successful final vet check. While delays are very rare, there may be occasions where your puppy’s pickup date needs to be adjusted based on veterinary recommendations.

If any changes occur, I will notify you as soon as possible so you can update your travel plans accordingly. However, please note that we cannot reimburse travel-related expenses, which is why travel insurance is highly recommended.

Airline Policies

Before booking your flight, please research airline policies regarding pet travel:

  • Most airlines allow puppies to fly at 8 weeks of age, but some require 10 weeks, even for domestic travel.

  • Double-check your puppy’s exact birthdate before booking your flight to ensure they meet the age requirement. For example, if you're flying on a Friday but your puppy turns 8 weeks on Saturday, you’ll need to adjust your travel date.

  • Review carrier and weight restrictions. Some airlines do not require your puppy to stand up fully inside the carrier, but most set a combined weight limit (typically around 20 pounds including the carrier).

Typical Go-Home Timeline

Our puppies usually go to their forever homes between 8 and 12 weeks of age, with most families picking up their puppy the weekend after they turn 8 weeks old.

 

Ground Transport Options

We’re happy to bring your puppy directly to you via ground transport for a safe and stress-free experience.

Your puppy will travel comfortably with me and my family, along with familiar items like a blanket or toy from home to help them feel secure throughout the journey.

Pricing:

  • First 50 miles: Included at no additional cost

  • 51–150 miles: $1 per mile

  • Beyond 150 miles: A different fee scale applies—please contact us for a custom quote based on your location and timing

We personally handle all ground transport to ensure your puppy’s comfort and safety every step of the way.

Flight Nanny Service

If you prefer to have your puppy delivered to you by air, we offer a Flight Nanny Service for added convenience and peace of mind.

Your puppy will travel in-cabin with a trusted flight nanny, ensuring they are cared for and comforted throughout the entire journey.

Cost Breakdown:

  • Round-trip airline ticket for the nanny (price varies based on destination and availability)

  • Flight nanny service fee: Typically $250–$500, depending on your location and the length of travel
